Richard L. Barwis, Director, Media Development

As a life-long publishing professional, Richard is widely experienced and deeply knowledgeable about all aspects of the field.

An accomplished publisher of numerous periodicals, Richard has successfully developed and launched new magazines, online publications, e-newsletters, email promotion programs and special sections/publications, as well as rebuilding failing magazines. He is expert at helping publishers exploit revenue opportunities.

Richard has a highly successful record in advertising sales. His career began as a trainee at Dow Jones & Company. He represented "The Wall Street Journal" in New York and served as assistant advertising manager of the Journal's Philadelphia office. He was advertising sales manager for one of the nation's first city business magazines and served as national accounts representative for the Travel & Resort section of the nation's fifth largest daily newspaper.

Richard spent 13 years with one of the nation's largest B2B publishers beginning in IT, then moving to the business side as advertising representative, national advertising sales manager and ultimately publisher. He served as associate publisher, director of sales at "MedAd News" before founding "Healthcare Employment News."

Richard was one of the founders of Cornerstone Media in 1992. He has been project manager of literally hundreds of media projects and led Cornerstone Media's advertising sales activity that increased advertising revenue for a national project management association more than 650%.

Richard is active in the community having served 9 years as Vice President, Treasurer on the board of directors of the Wissahickon Valley Public Library system and currently serves on the board of Montgomery County Senior Adult Activity Centers, a non-profit organization providing adult day care and programming for seniors, as well as the Meals on Wheels program delivering more than 104,000 meals a year to homebound seniors.

Lizabeth A. Barwis, Principal and President

Lizabeth Barwis has a wide-ranging publishing background, from editorial development, production and list management to advertising sales. A savvy marketer, Libby Barwis provides Cornerstone clients with a wealth of experience and knowledge of advertising sales, sales management and marketing. This background makes her exceptionally well-qualified to implement targeted media and exploit profit niches.

In her capacity as advertising sales manager for Healthcare Employment News, she directed a six-person sales staff and worked closely with advertising agencies, employers and recruiters, selling advertising in a highly-competitive market.

Libby's knowledge of subscriber list construction and coordinating direct mailing activities enables Cornerstone clients to target specific market segments and deliver targeted material at the lowest possible cost.

Libby graduated, as a registered nurse, from the Germantown Hospital and Medical Center School of Nursing, Philadelphia, PA., where she received the school's Alumni Award for Achievement. She is active in community activities, and has served on the board of directors of the Ambler Area YMCA and Inter-Faith Hospitality Network, a community organization providing housing and services helping homeless families.

Jay Holtzman, Editorial & Content Leader

Jay Holtzman's experience runs the communications gamut from award-winning journalist to the architect of national marketing and public relations programs for some of the most recognizable names in the business world.

Jay's writing career began in the streets as a beat reporter for one of the nation's largest daily newspapers. He has served as magazine staff writer, editor and publisher of well-respected publications such as International Product Digest and Hardware Age.

He has managed and implemented public relations and marketing communications programs for companies ranging from Stanley Tools, Polaroid and General Electric to Grace/Darex, Kidde/Fenwal and Taco Incorporated.

He's written and produced major feature articles, special reports, advertising, brochures, direct mail and email promotion, product and company videos and multi-media programs, managed consumer and trade public relations programs and media events.

Jay's writing skill has been recognized as a the recipient of several Jesse H. Neal Awards for Editorial Excellence by the American Business Press, the Pulitzer of business media and two-time winner of the Editorial Excellence Award from the American Society of Business Publication Editors.

John Goschke, Art Director

John Goschke is responsible for Cornerstone Media graphic design and production. John's extensive background in publication design and advertising, promotion coupled with a state-of-the-art electronic publishing system enables Cornerstone to produce high-quality, camera-ready material and deliver it directly to printers.

Prior to joining Cornerstone, John was art director for Union Mill Communications, Inc., Maple Shade, NJ. John's creative palette includes the design and production of magazines, websites, books, newsletters, pamphlets, advertisements, corporate identity programs and direct mail and e-mail promotions. He also served as graphic designer and illustrator for the Environmental Control Group, Inc., SourceFinders Information Corporation and Resource Management International.
